SPECIAL COLLECTIONS: The Ladies Lead ft. Laetitia Eido, Sabeth Perez, Ebet Roberts, Nino Surguladze, Donna Masini, Noa Wildschut

Episode Notes

After more than 850 episodes, I’ve observed that many of my remarkable guests are connected by one or more common threads.

Each episode of Special Collections focuses on a particular thread that ties together some of my guests. In this episode that common thread is all the ladies who are in the forefront of the arts.

Bios typically recite all of the accomplishments and awards of the artist. They're important of course. But what I'm particularly interested in are those tidbits that are a surprise. That talk about an interest or accomplishment that's off the beaten path. Something that adds color and context to the life and background of my guest.

This episode will re-introduce six amazing women who have scaled the heights in their chosen field, and who have been guests on the podcast.

Laetitia Eido is an incredible French/Lebanese actress who stars in “Fauda”, the hugely popular Israeli thriller series, and also in “Liaison” and “Dirty Angels” with Eva Green, and in “Chief Of Station” with Aaron Eckhardt.

Sabeth Perez is a wonderful Argentine-German jazz vocalist and composer. Her songs combine Argentine rhythms, Impressionist harmonies and improvisational jazz. She’s performed with various European big bands and orchestras.

Ebet Roberts is an acclaimed photographer of punk and New Wave bands including Blondie, Talking Heads and The Ramones which were taken at NYC clubs like CBGBs. Her photos are in the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Museum.

Nino Surguladze is a world famous operatic Mezzo-Soprano from Tbilisi, Georgia. She’s performed at prestigious opera houses in the U.S., Europe, New Zealand and Asia. She’s appeared in film and television. And she’s been honored with the Presidential Order of Excellence from Georgia.

Donna Masini is an acclaimed poet and the author of four books of poems. And she’s also written a novel. Her poems have appeared in The New Yorker, Best American Poetry, American Poetry Review, The Yale Review, and the Paris Review.

Noa Wildschut is a special 25 year old Dutch virtuoso violinist. She made her concert debut at age 7. She’s played festivals, recitals and solo performances with dozens of orchestras around the world including the Royal Philharmonic, Stockholm Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
